Half way through the season, the football team that you welcomed to your first training session should hopefully have evolved before your very eyes. As the season progresses the players should now be starting to look like a unit. This mid way point through the season means your training will have to be adapted as you go along.
How you adjust to the ever changing dynamics of your teams exercises will identify if you still keep the training as exciting and fun with their skill development or if the training session development just grinds to a halt. You will have to adjust your training plans, review each players progress with the parents are all essential mid season responsibilities that have to be looked at as the time goes on. After watching your team playing for half a season you will start to identify which players are catching on to the skills that are taught, and the players that are struggling a bit or are lagging behind.
With matches played, you will soon see your kids having grass stained strips and and be aware of the quick developers as well. As you watch these games you will also have to take note of who needs extra one and one coaching to bring them up to scratch. Keeping an eye on the training will also show what improvements are being made and importantly praising the efforts of the youngsters as they get better. Making a big deal out of a small thing in the early stages will make your youngsters feel good and improve their love for the game in years to come, hopefully keeping them actively playing the sport for many years to come.
As the season goes on players are certainly going to improve on certain aspects of their game. Be ready to give them a pat on the back, A high five or a enthusiastic praise. The skill in seeing these improvements can be the difference between your players being very happy that you have noticed there achievements however small, or the disappointment they feel when they think you didn't notice there achievements.
